Chel White arrived in Portland in 1985. Already a filmmaker, he moved into Portland indie film scene, working first for Jim Blashfield (Leave Me Alone), then for Gus Van Sant (My Own Private Idaho and others – doing visual effects), before co-founding Bent Image Lab with Ray Di Carlo and David Daniels.
Chel White has directed award winning music videos, short animation, commercials, you name it. From his website:
Retrospective screenings of Chel White’s work have included the Northwest Film Center / Portland Art Museum, Southern Circuit, the Austin Film Society, the Ann Arbor Film Festival, the Big Muddy Film Festival, the Humboldt Film Festival, Den Haag Film + Video Festival in Holland, and the Retina Festival in Hungary.
