Oprah has spoken! Harpo Productions and HBO have joined to turn Portland raised author Rebecca Skloot’s non-fiction bestseller, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, into a film.
Skloot originally wanted to be a veterinarian. It was in a Portland Community College classroom that she first learned about the historic research breakthroughs achieved by scientists using cells taken from Henrietta Lacks.
Floyd Skloot, Portland poet and essayist, is Rebecca Skloot’s pleased as punch father.
