You think Hollywood is in California? Hollywood is right next door. Woody Crocker (born James Elwood Crocker) was born in Corvallis, the son of turkey farmer. He moved from hanging wallpaper to interior decoration to set decoration and finally to set design. In 1992 he won an Emmy for his work as art director on the television series Northern Exposure.
Not bad for a guy who discovered his talents by helping his mom hang Christmas decorations.
A Woody Crocker film retrospective would include Sasquatch – The Legend of Bigfoot (1974), Permanent Record (1988), and Breaking In (1989), all Oregon films he set designed.
Woody Crocker’s dual citizenship is demonstrated by his twin obituaries: in the Oregonian and in the Hollywood Reporter.
