Sure, Blake Edwards included an Oregon beach in his Around The World In 80 Days style movie extravaganza The Great Race (1965). The more important road trip, however, from the point of view of Oregon history, happened the year before when Ken Kesey decided to drive a school bus across the US with a few friends. Kesey had just published his second novel, Sometimes A Great Notion, and was on his way to a book party in New York.
